As space permits, Berea ARF will accept Owner Surrenders of non-aggressive pets from owners in Berea and surrounding communities who are no longer able to keep them.
To make sure space is available and save your place in line, it is mandatory that you complete the online form to provide us with detailed information about your pet. Before being accepted, all animals will receive medical and behavioral testing. If you are unable to complete the online form, please call 440- 234-2034 to make an appointment to speak with an intake coordinator.
Owners should be prepared to produce the animal’s vaccine and medical history, any medications prescribed to the animal, and a minimum surrender fee of $25 for cats / $50 for dogs. You may bring a favorite blanket or toy to ease the transition.
Berea ARF is not required to accept pets, and may decline to accept your pet at our discretion.
Instead of surrendering you pet, if your situation is temporary we may be able to offer emergency short- term foster care. The Under the Wing Program provides emergency foster care for companion animals of individuals who are temporarily unable to care for them due to illness, domestic violence, foreclosure, or other dire situations.
We provide our emergency foster care service for up to 90 days with extensions available in special circumstances. Families are given regular updates on how their companions are doing by our volunteer program coordinators. We have successfully helped hundreds of families in dire situations by caring for their pets until they are able to bring them back to their homes. Our animal intake coordinator can discuss this option with you.
