WELCOME TO ARF

Mission Statement

We shelter, rejuvenate, and finds homes for stray animals that are brought into the shelter by the police or animal control officer from Berea.

Stray or lost animals are given a temporary shelter with a "No Time Limit" policy until they are adopted into loving permanent homes or until a lost owner claims the pet. Berea's Animal Rescue Fund provides all medical needs, including leukemia testing of cats, heartworm testing of dogs, de-worming, spaying and neutering. Sick and injured animals are treated if there is a positive prognosis.

''''

If you see this donated vehicle around town, know that more rescued animals are on their way or way back from one of the veterinarians we work with and have either just been spayed or neutered or have received necessary medical care for disease or injury. Your donation helps us continue helping these animals!

The city of Berea supports the shelter by providing the building and covering utility costs.

All medical bills, bedding, food and day-to-day supplies are paid for by Berea's Animal Rescue Fund through donations, adoption fees and fundraising efforts by Volunteers. It costs more than $60,000 a year for the shelter to operate and provide for the animals.

Did you know the Berea Animal Rescue Fund has no guaranteed, regular source of funding and must rely on adoption fees, donations and volunteer fundraising efforts? It is very, very expensive to operate a no-time-limit animal shelter, as we must continually feed and medicate our dog and cat residents until they find permanent homes; and many of them arrive in very poor physical condition, requiring expensive medical care. All animals are vet-checked, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered as well, and this costs thousands of dollars annually. If everyone who visited our site made even a small donation, it would help our cause tremendously—after all, a little bit from a lot of people really adds up!

We cannot send thank-you notes to everyone who donates, but please know that your donation to help our homeless animals is truly appreciated.
